NWN segfaults all over the place (Xenial)

So, I just went through an installation process for Neverwinter Nights on Ubuntu Xenial (MATE), and immediately after unzipping all of the files in (I believe) the correct order and ruing fixinstall, the game would launch! ..This is normally where I see SDL parachutes and such, but no! It was working! I couldn't believe my luck!

..But it wasn't to last. It seems like anything I try to do (open the sound or advanced video options, or try to join an inteet game) throws a segmentation fault, and we're already deeper into the troubleshooting than I usually get, so I think I need some help here. I posted a question on AskUbuntu (http://askubuntu.com/questions/76602...-different-fai), but then I found this place while googling and thought I'd ask here, too, since it seems more populated and there's actually a forum for specialized support re: games.

Any help or troubleshooting advice would be appreciated. I wish the Bioware forums were still available for this kind of thing, but that ship sailed several years ago. =/
