I decided to copy this from my website in case anyone needed it, I couldn't find such a topic here or anywhere for 16.04.
If you installed Xubuntu 16.04 or other Ubuntu Linux distro to your MacBook Air, here's how to solve the problem of not being able to access the Inteet.
If you removed Mac OS X, like I did, you'll need a separate computer (although a PS3 and a USB will work fine).
1. Download this file: https://www.mediafire.com/?axdonblc0uflc4x - plug in your USB and unzip it to desktop. (The ZIP was created on a Mac, so the contents are duplicated in _MACOSX folder)
2. Type in Terminal sudo dpkg -i then drag the DKMS .deb package onto the Terminal, press enter, it should install.
3. Do the repeated with the other file.
It should start working again. Sometimes the first file won't do it but sometimes it does it depends on what MacBook Air you installed.
(Thanks to Adamant Lugia from GBAtemp for the instructions)
