[kubuntu] ubuntu not loading into desktop

guys, this is the error i get after logging in, the only thing on screen is the folder i can use for general items, desktop/etc, this message is at the bottom of the screen with a no entry icon where the k should be, to my knowledge i have not done anything, all was fine till i started up today?
