Hi,
I recently discovered plymouth and was figuring out how to work with it. Initially the GUI didn't start. Some searching helped and I got it ruing. Now I had tried installing themes (not much left in synaptic) and tried some themes. I then uninstalled one of them and restarted system to check. Now when I'm trying to install and set other theme, the update-initramfs isn't working.

The output for

Code:

sudo update-alteatives --config default.plymouth
is as below -

Code:

There are 6 choices for the alteative default.plymouth (providing /lib/plymouth/themes/default.plymouth).

  Selection Path Priority Status
------------------------------------------------------------
  0 /usr/share/plymouth/themes/ubuntustudio-logo/ubuntustudio-logo.plymouth 150 auto mode
  1 /lib/plymouth/themes/orange 100 manual mode
  2 /lib/plymouth/themes/space-sunrise/space-sunrise.plymouth 100 manual mode
  3 /usr/share/plymouth/themes/spier/spier.plymouth 70 manual mode
  4 /usr/share/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu-logo-scale-2.plymouth 99 manual mode
  5 /usr/share/plymouth/themes/ubuntu-logo/ubuntu-logo.plymouth 100 manual mode
* 6            /usr/share/plymouth/themes/ubuntustudio-logo/ubuntustudio-logo.plymouth   150       manual mode

Press <enter> to keep the current choice[*], or type selection number:
If I select any of them, and then update using

Code:

sudo update-initramfs -u
I get following output -

Code:

update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-4.4.0-21-generic
W: plymouth module (/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/plymouth//.so) missing, skipping that theme.
I tried searching over inteet but couldn't find any solution to this. Currently my boot screen isn't showing anything during boot-up other than default colour background (purple). While shutting down, it displays Ubuntu Studio in text form (I had tried setup Ubuntu Studio screen and it did worked). Please help me out to set a theme for my system. I'm using Ubuntu 16.04 with plymouth version 0.9.2.
