Help with Play On Linux and Yumina the Ethereal (Game)

First of all, what does Play On Linux exactly do? I ask because I have a game, Aselia the Eteal, which works on wine with mfc42 installed but not on Play On Linux. I'm guessing the idea is if that game was in the database it would know what to install and do all the work for you to get the game working but its not and I would not know how to install mfc42 through Play On Linux anyway. If it does work through Play On Linux I wouldn't mind submitting the game so it could be added to their database.

Next...I'm trying to install a visual novel called Yumina the Ethereal. I doubt I would have much luck debugging the reasons the game won't play on wine but if anyone has the time to try to get it working on wine you would be awesome! Instead, I got Virtual Box ruing Windows XP, however Yumina the Ethereal does not work even though it is compatible with Windows XP, nor does Aselia the Eteal which is also compatible.

My Windows XP has automatic updates tued off, if that matters... I don't know if this could be a virtual box or a windows setting as to the reason to why it won't work. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
