14.04: was apt-get install case-insensitive?

Following on from http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...5#post13479925 ...

West Swan ran into difficulties installing games using sudo apt-get install Game1 Game2 Game3 and so on. I suggested using sudo apt-get install game1 game2 game3 instead (as well as ensuring that the universe repo is enabled).

According to West Swan, the first command worked in 14.04. With my default set-up, it doesn't work in 16.04. Can anyone confirm whether sudo apt-get install didn't care about case-sensitivity of package names in 14.04? I no longer have 14.04 to check for myself.
