Very poor sound after upgrade

Hello everyone

I just recently decided that I had enough of windows and I wiped my laptop to install Ubuntu 16.04 LTS.

As the title says, I now have a noticeably very poor sound quality on my system. The sound was working fine on windows 10.
The system is a HP envy leap motion I have the beats audio speakers, I have the Xeon E3-1200 v3/4th Gen Core Processor HD Audio Controller (not sure if this is the chipset or actual sound card).
I'm still very much a noob on Ubuntu and I'm sorry if I missed the thread with my solution. If you require any more info on my system to help diagnose, just ask and I'll be glad to help you help me !

I checked here : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Audio/UpgradingAlsa/DKMS , followed the steps with my Distribution (seems to be Xenial) but the .deb file they are talking about is missing from the list so I can't complete this tutorial.
I tried this too, no success : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SoundTroubleshooting
