[Other Ubuntu/Debian based] Real Time!

Alrighty! I see Ubuntu has ALL of the RT tools available in the repos except for tuna, but that is ok.......since python bits still need to be worked out.

THIS IS NOT A GUIDE, BUT MAY HAVE SOME GUIDEY TYPE BITS!

I have been working on a Hardware Realtime keel build for Ubuntu that can be shared. Standard GNU waing...not responsible if it messes up your stuff.

Aphrodite 19 is being made right now (so you might want to wait until Moing - AZ US time to try it out). Hoping that it is optimized enough to get under 9 microseconds. Still has full support for all 4441 modules that the *Ubuntu 14.04 and 15.10 supports, BUT to use the official Nvidia Drivers it needs a patch and when installed a special call needs to be made so it will ignore the fact it is Preempt RT.

You will notice the 340.96 Nvidia driver is already in the dropbox folder patched and all. Just request the other drivers you want (give me the video card tied to the driver..easier to find under the video card eg. geforce ******) patched, I will be happy to patch them and load them in. Please be sure that the 340.96 is not the one you are looking for already before asking. My time is limited.

To install the keel:
goto the folder(via command line) you downloaded all 4 parts in (make sure they are the only .deb packages you have in that folder or move them to their own folder) and "sudo dpkg -i *.deb" and restart. If you use NVIDIA make sure you have gone back to the nouveu drivers before installing the keel.

To Install the NVIDIA Driver:
***BE SURE YOU HAVE ALL THE BUILD TOOLS AVAILABLE TO DKMS SO YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REBUILD FOR UPDATES THAT WILL BE REGULAR UNTIL I AM SATISFIED***
1) Hold shift to access GRUB when starting your pc and start in recovery mode for the keel.
2) Disable all Nouveu drivers via modprode and restart again in recovery mode.
3) cd into the nvidia driver folder you extracted and type "sudo IGNORE_PREEMPT_RT_PRESENCE=1 ./nvidia-installer"

Installs and works on both 14.04 and 15.10 64bit machines. Will build a 32bit once i get more of the overflow fixed and will post source once I am satisfied.
