My graphics card is nvidia gtx 650 and i'm using the DVI port to a TV which does not provide any firmware
i have installed nvidia drivers from Update software and drivers but just other little resolutions, which are not the native one are listed.. the resolution gotten from windows 10 is 1920x1080
i have tried the terminal method using cvt

Code:

cvt 1920 1080 60
then used xrandr to create the mode

Code:

sudo xrandr --newmode <result from cvt>
and then ran this code

Code:

sudo xrandr --addmode "1920x1080_60.00"
but this step thrown an error badmatch with some other information
also tried ruing nvidia-xconfig and restarted. but that just leaves me with the only resolution 640x480
my conclusion is that ubuntu is not getting the firmware from my screen, but the screen does not have any, not even windows gets it but atleast it gets the last resolution as the tv native resolution

link to my xorg.log in pastebin: http://pastebin.com/aweHw1Ca

please help. this is the only thing that keeps me from using Ubuntu
