[ubuntu] Lost sound after changing alsa-base.conf file

Dear friends,

I've installed Ubuntu recently on a new notebook (HP 250 G4) and I had a slight problem with sound: it was repeating from time to time, while not going out of sync with video later on. I tried to help alsa by adding

/etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf
After a reboot, sound was off: instead of built-in speakers I got dummy output in the mixer. So I changed the line to model = auto to see if it is going to work then, but it didn't.

In efforts to fix it, I purged alsa and pulseaudio, got them again, forced alsa, reverted my keel, but nothing really happened. I still have the dummy output and
