[ubuntu] Nautilus crashes when dragging files

Not long after installing Ubuntu (16.04), I tried dragging and dropping a file from one Nautilus window to another. When I do, the folder instead appears momentarily on my desktop, Nautilus crashes, and then the folder disappears from my desktop.

This is a problem that has persisted for me since the last version (15.10). When this happened while using 15.10, the GUI appeared to become unstable and I ended up having to reboot. When using 15.10, I tried a number of times to fix the problem without success. I even tried re-installing three times. I tried a number of solutions suggested here. I eventually ended up going with another distribution because I just couldn't get it to work.

I was hoping this time would work. Maybe whatever caused the problem in 15.10 would be fixed in 16.04. Anyway, has anyone else run into this and been able to solve the issue? I'd like to use Ubuntu. I first tried it out when Feisty Faun came out, but this is a deal killer for me if it can't be resolved.
