login streamlining

I'm having issues with the login process when I don't come in "through the main door" but instead follow a link from a reply alert email after having restarted my browser.

In that case, none of the paths leading to and through "Login with SSO" take me back to where I was (either the thread or else the reply-to page). If I use the browser's back button or follow the link from that email again it is as if I never logged in. The only way I found to prevent that is to navigate to where I was from the forum's main page, which is rather cumbersome if the thread hasn't been active for a while.

Is this normal, or could it be related to things on my end like 3rd party cookie blocking? I'm using Google Chrome, btw.
