[SOLVED] re-installing dropbox - fails to complete installation 12.04

Hello.
I've been ruing 12.04 with dropbox installed and recently had to re-install 12.04... now I can't re-install dropbox.. the installation begins as usual, completes to 100% in apt-get, however, it seems to fail to complete the configuration process and uses 100% cpu cycles trying to write a /.config file of some sort... shows up in TOP as dropbox at 100% cpu cycles, however, when i try to end the process with killall, bash reports no such process ruing...

any ideas as to which old /.config file i should delete in order for dpkg to complete the install?

Edit: when i reinstalled 12.04, i preserved my old /home partition, so all my docs and .config files would still be there...
