Hi All. I've recently upgraded to 16.04 and have since been having the above problem. Although, I had similar, intermittent problems with the older version of Ubuntu (14.x). When coecting to my WiFi network, I enter a correct password, the system tries to coect and then asks me for the password again. Obviously, each time I am inputting the correct password. No problem coecting to the router with other devices such as Android phones. I am unable to access the config of the router - locked down by the service provider, so I am unable to change any of the encryption settings that some previous threads have suggested. Network Manager shows that the coection uses WPA & WPA2 Personal security...

I actually posted this on the "Installation and Upgrades" forum, but I got no help, so perhaps a good soul on this forum can give me a clue. I have a vintage HP laptop (32b) that was ruing 14.04.5 OK. I upgraded to 16.04.1 and the installation finished OK, however all GUIs on the system show the password box grayed out when I have to elevate to administrator priviledges. However if I open a terminal I have no problem sudo'ing, e.g. sudo xxxx.... This happens on GUIs like software update, gparted, etc.[edit] I just noticed something: there are two users on the system, both with administrator priviledges. Hey all,I have a huge long complicated password to login, so my home folder encryption is a bit stronger. However, this then means using sudo is a huge pain. I'd like to use a slightly easier sudo password... something a malicious script or snooping user couldn't crack without effort, but also something easier on my fingers when I issue many sudos in many terminal windows. Say for instance, my login password is 30 characters long, and I'd like my sudo password (or a second addon password) to be only 8.Is this possible?And before you say full system encryption... Hi, I have Ubuntu 14.04 and I made some symlinks for wine, which it kept deleting, thus stopping me being able to install programs.So with my limited knowhow, I tried to change the attibutes for the symlinks, to stop them being deleted, which came up with an error.One of the symlinks made my directory /home/paul/ into drive d:After this the symlinks could no longer be accessed so I deleted them.Now I can no longer get into Ubuntu, it comes up and asks me for a password, but refuses my password as incorrect, even though I have used this thousands of times under sudo.Is the system screwed and requires a new install, or is this fixable?Thanks, Paul. I thought I would try Thunderbird. It seems to have a problem with my email password. It just keeps asking for the password, I enter it correctly, but it can't log in. I tried various settings but then Thunderbird tells me 'this setting is not correct for this server' or something like that, so I go back to 'normal password'.My name, as seen in my email is Pedroski.
