  • Re: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, Dell Precission 5510 Laggy Graphics with NVIDIA

  • artur,I am having the same issues. When I try to install an NVIDIA driver through the Driver Manager, "Applying changes..." stalls. When I am in linux safe mode, it asks me to disable the Secure Mode before entering the Driver Manager and i am able to get to the reboot. But the reboot fails with a black screen.Thats why i am stuck with the nouveau driver, having the same lacks like slow task switch and terminal responses you mentioned.I am using linux mint 18 xfce. Is it really necessary to disable the nouveau driver? Are there already 16.04 additional drivers from DELL?How did you manager to install any nvidia driver?Kind regards,Markus Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

  • [ubuntu] Running LXC/LXD containers in different networks

  • Hi,I have a server with 16.04 up and running. I used lxd to create a container environment, where I bridged my network.Everything is running smoothly. Now I want to create different containers, which belong to 3 projects.I would like to separate these projects, they should be running in 3 different networks, two containers in every subnet should have a loadbalancer and a jumhost, they should have two network interfaces, one facing to the projects inteal network, one facing the default network, that is the one my serveode is using. How can this be archieved? Would I have to set up the project-inteal network manually or can I configure multiple networks with LXC / LXD?Kind regards, Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

  • [ubuntu] 16.04 LTS - Switching to nvidia drivers causes X to terminate after login

  • Hi,I am using Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on an Acer Aspire V3-771G w/ Nvidia GT 640M (plus Intel onboard graphics/Optimus technology).Nouveau works without issues. I also dual boot Windows 10 and use the Nvidia card via Optimus without problems there. When I use the Additional Drivers application to switch to Nvidia 361.42 (proprietary, tested), after a restart:- The login screen appears- Attempting to login causes the screen to flash, an error message on a text console is displayed for a few milliseconds, and I am retued to the login screen. How would we go about troubleshooting this issue? Thanks! • [lubuntu] LXC for testing process

  • Hi Everyone,I'm working on a project which is a web application development encompassing web-site (html), RESTful web server, database, etc.I want to establish testing using LXC, to let testers simply start several containers with pre-deployed parts of web app and verify test cases. For every new web-app version a bunch of LXC containers will be created each with particular pre-installed software (like DB server or application server). Then pieces of web-app will be copied to the rootfs'es of corresponding containers. What I want to know is whether above can be considered as a good approach and what shortcomings it might result into.I will appreciate any comments, suggestions or recommendations. If anyone knows of similar usage of LXC please kindly share your experience. Thanks in advance) Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

  • [kubuntu] nVidia prime - can't run external monitor on Asus Zenbook

  • Hi,I bought a new ASUS Zenbook UX501VW with Intel card + Nvidia Geforce 960M. First what I did after installation was set grub option to nouveau.modeset=0 because fans were really loud. I guess that this tu off my nvidia card. Then plugged exteal monitor via HDMI. Everything worked perfect, could do whatever want in KDE display settings, both screens, only one etc. So I'm pretty sure that HDMI port is connected to the Intel card. Then installed latest nvidia drivers (nvidia-367), nvidia-prime and nvidia-settings. Changed grub options (recommended for optimus) to: Code: GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash pcie_aspm=force drm.vblankoffdelay=1 i915.semaphores=1" Here are my experiences with exteal monitor on nvidia-prime profiles:Intelnvidia-settings doesn't show anything about secondary display. Infact, settings on this profile are really poor in KDE display settings I see my secondary monitor but when try select it for change "enabled" checkbox then it becomes unselected after 2 seconds. Even if I try do this really fast and accept, then I get message that it could not be enabled because resolution is too big or my driver doesn't allow more than one active display in KDE display settings, don't see exteal monitor in "main display" popup list. A bit regression between what is "visually" presented nVidianvidia-seetings show only Screen 0 section. That kind of screen configuration is missing on Intel profile for me KDE settings doesn't show anything about secondary display at all Notessecondary monitor is running on login screen but tu off after login in everytime when exteal monitor show "no signal", interface on laptop display is frozen for a half second or less (including mouse cursor). Looks like monitor ping interrupt X server when exteal monitor is connected then kworker/N (N=CPU core) has abnormal CPU usage (~5-10%) SystemKubuntu 16.04 64bit, updatedDon't suggest me to try bumbelebee. Already did and doesn't work at all. I used it 4 years ago on my Dell XP, ...ادامه مطلب

  • Update to 14.04 3.13.0-92 - Nvidia driver unsigned problem

  • Yesterday's update to 14.04 ( 3.13.0-92 ) requires that the keel video driver be signed.I cannot tu off secure boot as this is a dual-boot machine, Win 10 won't boot if secure boot is off.The GUI logon screen boots to low-resolution, it loops on valid password entry. After about a day of googling, am unable to determine which Nvidia drivers are signed, which are not signed, and have not been able to find a signed driver.Graphics card is GTX-660, the drivers tried are: 340.96 and 352.63. Rebooted to 3.13.0-91and everything works fine (both 340.96 and 352.63). 352.63 is listed as 'recommended driver'by the GUI.Is there a place to find a signed nvidia driver? If not, what alteatives are available? If I everupdate to 16.04 apparently will have this same issue. One search showed how to use nvidia-install which seems to be a script to install nvidia drivers, and optionally allow signing from a MOK key. But that script is not present on this machine. No such options for signing appear when using the 'Software & Updates' Additional Drivers GUI toupdate drivers.-- Tom McDermott This entry passed through the Full-Text RSS service - if this is your content and you're reading it on someone else's site, please read the FAQ at fivefilters.org/content-only/faq.php#publishers.Recommended article from FiveFilters.org: Most Labour MPs in the UK Are Revolting., ...ادامه مطلب

  • [ubuntu] Dual monitor, nvidia driver issues | Fresh Install

  • Hey team,Over the past four days I have frantically trying to install Ubuntu 16.04 onto my hard drive so that I can dual boot that and Windows. I've managed to install it a few times now and each time I run into a few deal breaking issues.Firstly, using the default nouveau graphics drivers I am able to have both of my monitors plugged in via DVI and working (although the mouse is flickery and disappears a little), however as soon as I install the NVIDIA drivers (any version that is and with secure boot disabled) Ubuntu can only detect one of the monitors and when I activate the other one in Nvidia X Server Settings (which does detect it), it tus on but remains black (I can move my mouse onto it but it displays a big X). I have tried follow some tutorials online but had no success. My current GPU setup is as follows: I currently have one GTX 690 (Part Number: 04G-P4-2690-KR), although from what I understand the GTX 690 has two chips on the one card so it may be that Ubuntu is treating it as two cards (in NVIDA X-Settings it does state GPU 0 and GPU 1). The 690 is plugged into the first PCI slot on my motherboard. In terms of the inputs the back of the 690 has three DVI slots (see http://images10.newegg.com/ProductIm...130-781-10.jpg for reference). My individual setup is that I have a DVI cord coming from each monitor into the two DVI slots on the same level (picturedhttps://goo.gl/photos/3GMAUdoKnxw1fUYX9). In terms of configuration, they have just been plugged in and then had the drivers installed. To combat these I have tried reinstalling 16.04 twice, trying 14.04 and even trying Fedora 24 Workstation, but the problems remain persistent across all operating systems. Furthermore, I have tried numerous online solutions for each problem with no avail. My current hardware is: CPU: i5 6600k Motherboard: ASUS Maximus VIII Hero RAM: 16gb Corsair LPX 3200Mhz Sound Device: Realtek HD Audio GPU: GTX 690 I'd love to get Ubuntu working so that I can use it as my OS for developin, ...ادامه مطلب
