In my attempt to make a my Mac Mini 1,1 dual boot OSX 10.5 and Ubuntu 14.04, I have set things up incorrectly pertaining to sharing drive space between these OS's. And I don't know how to fix it.My goal is to have the single hard drive divided into partitions for each OS, and another one for files that can be accessed from either OS.I encountered the user ID mismatch problem and tried to fix it by assigning the Ubuntu user ID to 501, to match that of the OSX 10.5 user ID. I did so by trying to follow the instructions I found on this web page: http://lifehacker.com/5702815/the-co...rating-systemsThat procedure had me create a “tempuser” account in Ubuntu. Then us some chown commands on the ho...

I've decided to start a new thread on this, rather than keep adding to me 14.04 to 15.10 thread.I have upgraded to 16.04.1I am finding a few issues. So far: Wireless coection is unstable. I'm using wired for now. Monitor switches off after being left idle, and the only way to wake it is reboot. I've now tued off the sleep mode, but that's not ideal either. Ubuntu software centre is still in my menu, but won't load. I'm sure i will find more, but any thoughts on these would be appreciated.Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Hi,My system uses HDMI audio via the optical output on the TV, I am currently using 14.04 LTS and after an upgrade audio stopped working on all apps, youtube, kodi etc. HDMI audio does work on the Left Right test in audio settings and its shown selected, so HDMI audio is not broken as it can work. After ruing the LR test the the DAC shows the HDMI audio link is working as it shows lock, however as soon as an app using audio is started the HDMI audio shuts down as the DAC shows no lock, I saw this on upgrading to 16.04 and I had USB sticks with 14.04 and 16.04 and 16.04 and audio never worked on 16.04, other than the LR test, I went back to 16.04. Any ideas?edit HW is Intel NUC Intel NUC D340...

I'm using Ubuntu MATE 16.04 on an older desktop. Some time last week, my mouse started to behave rather oddly. It now frequently double clicks when I single click. It's an issue I've experienced with previous Ubuntu versions.Anyway, it's not critical, but it is a tad aoying. If somebody could tell me what the issue is and how to fix it, I'd be most grateful.- Robert Let's block ads! بخوانید...

Came back to linux because I'm tired of Windows. Ruing into a few issues however. I have a Dell Inspiron 7348, which dell sells with Ubuntu.First, my mouse icons disspears after I recover from sleep. I read this may have something to do with a gnome daemon, I checked and didn't see it. Any idea's here?I have the proprietary Intel video drivers installed, at least I think I do.Also, something I'm not used too, is the jumping. It's so sensitive! I caot find way to reduce the, or even configure the sensitivity, or some sort of palm detection.Lastly, at least so far is the keyboard. Non of my built-in keys like volume etc work. Is there a way to enable them? I would prefer to have the FN key set...

I'm a graphics designer and artist and I know jack about Gimp. I'm leaing, but in the mean time I really need access to Photoshop CC. I'd rather not go back to Windows if I can help it.I have it installed via PlayLinux, but there are no fonts on anything except the menu's. I also tried installing it with no fonts (a suggestion from another post), and it did not help.I'm plaing on converting to linux entirely, but this is my one issue that for years has stopped me. VM's don't work because there's no hardware acceleration, something I need.Would love some help figuring this out. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

There are Linux apps to convert, never used them. But the issue really is that Windows only boots in BIOS boot mode from MBR partitioned drives. And Windows only boots in UEFI mode from gpt partitioned drives. (and you need newer UEFI hardware).Ubuntu can boot from gpt with either BIOS or UEFI but with BIOS you must have a 1 or 2MB unformatted partition with the bios_grub flag for BIOS boot or a FAT32 formatted partition as the ESP - efi system partition.Probably best to fully backup and reinstall if you have newer UEFI hardware.I started converting to gpt years ago when I still had XP. But XP was on MBR drive with Ubuntu on gpt drive.Converting to or from GPThttp://www.rodsbooks.com/gdisk/mbr...
