I think I know where I went wrong, I just can't find anything on how to fix it. I installed Ubuntu alongside my Windows 7 install which have incompatible formats if I recall correctly. When I boot my computer it hangs on the BIOS for much longer than normal, with my caps lock and num lock keys constantly blinking. Once it does that for a minute or so, it goes to a black screen and flashes a message (it includes the words environment batch (or block)). So the xorg issue with the pointer disappearing has been solved and that is absolutely great!However, I still seem to have a problem with light locker. After suspend, locking the screen or logging out, I see my wallpaper for a second or so, then there is a glitch and tus to the default light blue background. I am trying to dual boot ubuntu 14 and windows 10 on my dell xps 9350. They have both been installed and the windows side boots fine. So I have an HP Mini netbook that was previously used as my main laptop. I have since upgraded to a better system, but my need for it retued as my old server, a Sony VAIO laptop, experienced a hard drive failure. It was old anyways so I decided to use the netbook instead. I had Mythbuntu 14.04 ruing on this machine, but it was getting flaky: some recordings OK, some zero-length, some excessively large and presumably corrupt that would crash the frontend when I tried to play them. I'd applied the various updates that were offered, but they did not cure the problem. I have a USB drive at work that's specified in fstab (although the pathname says RAID it's not an array, just a single USB drive of 2 Tb). In 14.04, when I booted the computer without the drive coected, I would get an option during boot to skip that and then it would boot just fine. In 16.04 however, it boots into emergency mode instead. I can get around this by booting in startup mode but it's really aoying. How can I get around this?
