So I have an HP Mini netbook that was previously used as my main laptop. I have since upgraded to a better system, but my need for it retued as my old server, a Sony VAIO laptop, experienced a hard drive failure. It was old anyways so I decided to use the netbook instead. It didn't have a CD drive so I had to put the ISO for Unbuntu Server (32-Bit) on a flash drive. The installation succeeded, but when it came time to restart to boot for the first time, the laptop would get to the HP splash screen but would hang at this screen. Keyboard input didn't help either. hi, i am new to linux, just installed ubuntu 16.04.1 in a hyper-v machine, changed the ip address of the newly ubuntu server everything is fine, during the OS installation of the server i choose open ssh server packages to be installed too so i can remote access it from my network, but the problem is a can ping it from any where in my network but cant coect ssh to it for some strange reason, i checked the sshd service it is up and ruing, when ever i try to coect using putty in my windows machine the coection fail due to time out. Welcome. We are all psychic here!!! How would we be expected to know if you can install Ubuntu on the machine if we have NO idea what the machine is??? The only thing we can go on is $66, and at that price, probably no, but a lighter flavour might work. Please HELP! I’m looking for a solution for the following problem. I was ruing Ubuntu Server 10 for several years on a PCEngines Alix 1D system board without problems, but unfortunately forgot the password and do not remember which procedure I used the first time to install Ubuntu Server on an 8GB CF card so I decided to re-install and upgrade at the same time.
