Upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 a while back & LibreOffice was obviously upgraded at the same time. Since then, LibreOffice has been very slow/unresponsive, greying out for extended periods at times. This is despite the size of the file (so it's not specifically related to another post here). I uninstalled/re-installed, purged/reinstalled & purged/installed the recent RC version all with the same result. It worked fine with Ubuntu 15.10 & the previous LO version. I have configured LO according to most suggestions (checking/unchecking graphics settings, etc.) with no change. Hi - I am ruing Ubuntu 16.04 (new install rather than upgrade from 14.04). I have used OpenOffice/LibreOffice since about 1998 with little in the way of problems. The upgrade from LO 4.xx to 5.1.2.2 with 16.04 is causing problems with large files (e.g. about 100 pages of Writer with diagrams etc). These documents have been going fine with the old version but for the first 3-4 minutes after loading they are unusable (periodically grays out and temporarily locks up). I have changed the settings in Tools->Options->Memory to have 300 MB "Use for LibreOffice", 3MB "Memory per object", remove from memory after 10 min, cache for inserted objects = 325. I keep my Linux notes as a Writer document. The files is about 29 pages long (33.3 KiB).I had no problems with an earlier version of LibreOffice Writer, but with the current version from the software center in 16.04, whenever I opened this file, my laptop's temperature and CPU usage shot up to 60 degrees Celsius and 60% and stayed there for about 2-3 min. The program was unusable during this time. I've been using LibreOffice 5 for work, and it keeps crashing on me, so, I've been saving constantly (every time I finish more stuff), only this time when it crashed, it erased my saved-to-disk file as well as memory contents.This was a work file, very expensive, and too new to make it to backups.I've never had a program do that before, not even in M$. Wow! How evil is that?I looked for my intact file even in bash, and could not find it. Since updating to LibreOffice 1.5.0.3 on my HP Pavilion laptop I am unable to scroll down using the mouse pad.
