ادامه مطلبHello all! I am new to this and am hoping to get some help if possible. I have downloaded the 32 bit version of Ubuntu 15.04 and have installed it on my Dell PowerEdge 2650. The system is set up with 4 hard drives, one as the boot drive and the other 4 as RAID. The install seems to go perfectly, but once the system requires reboot, the screen always goes blank and my monitor says "Input Not Supported". The graphics is ruing from the on board controller.I have tried to hold the Left Shift Key, Right Shift Key, ESC, Arrow Down, CTRL+Alt+F1 and still caot access the GRUB screen I keep reading about. I can see the words "Starting GRUB" or something like that right before the screen goes blank. I...

ادامه مطلبHello,I've recently installed Ubuntu for the first time. My laptop is a Dell Latitude E6420. I've attached my laptop to a docking station, which is coected to an exteal monitor. While Ubuntu works just fine when my laptop isn't docked, the screen (e.g. the cursor and windows) appears to lag when it's displayed on my exteal monitor. After doing some research, I hypothesized that I have to install graphics drivers (again), since I'm using a different platform.I looked up my graphics card model, NVIDIA Corporation GF119M [NVS 4200M] (rev a1), and found this page:http://askubuntu.com/questions/29624...vers-correctlyI followed the page's instructions and got this message in the terminal:Package nv...

The printer appears to be recognized correctly, and it appears in the Printers settings panel. But when I click the "Print Test Page" button, nothing happens. When I "lpr testDoc.txt", the lights blink on the printer, but nothing prints. A pop-up prompt tells me it is "Printing" and then "Printing Completed" -- but nothing prints.##Here are some error messages in /var/log/cups/error_log:> tail -f /var/log/cups/error_log (...when printing test page from printer settings panel)E [28/Jul/2016:18:48:42 -0400] [Client 59] ...
ادامه مطلبI have a Dell Vostro laptop with Windows 10, which is a legacy bios rather than a UEFI. I have downloaded 16.04 and created a bootable USB using Rufus. I've tested the bootable USB on my other laptop which is of type UEFI, and the computer boots to the bootable USB perfectly, into 16.04. I've set up the Dell Vostro boot order to look first for a bootable USB. When I start up the dell with the bootable usb plugged in, a get a black screen with a cursor, and nothing further happens. Please let me know why it is not booting to the usb. Would the same bootable usb work for UEFI and legacy bios? Or does one need to somehow setup the bootable usb differently if it is to be used for a UEFI computer...

Do I need to log out-log in or reboot?Well now I went in "appearance" and changed it and it looks like it changed some stuff but not "window" look. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

ادامه مطلبHi friends. For the first time I decided to check out some snaps just to see what all of the development buzz is about. I hit a snag and figured I'd ask after I found limited info about this particular error (found some, but nothing that lead me to a resolution). The act of installing snaps as of now... is that strictly limited to terminal usage? I only ask because I did successfully install the VLC snap through terminal, where the system remotely retrieved the VLC snap through the command line and installed it. This worked, with exception to the fact I think the VLC snap has some issues (no file/edit/view/etc menus, plus clicking on the VLC icon from the system tray up top was blank).I stumb...
ادامه مطلبThis may be a really stupid question, but the question unasked is the truly stupid question.I am about to upgrade Ubuntu from 14.04 LTS to 16.04 LTSA long time ago I was using Ubuntu Studio and I'm wondering about the upgrade. When I upgrade, I am going to do a fresh install.Would I upgrade from 14.04 to 16.04 and then use say synaptic to install Ubuntu Studio on top, or is there a special package for Ubuntu Studio tht includes 16.04?Also, what is the DAW in Ubuntu Studio? What is the difference between just installing the packages that come with Ubuntu Studio vs. installing Ubuntu Studio? Thanks in advance for your replies. It will be used exclusively for office-type use. I have a gaming PC for everything else.I bought a Lenovo laptop a couple months ago for the purpose of starting to adjust the family to Ubuntu (from Windows), and because it has an AMD processor I installed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (not dual...
