I tried Multisystem maybe some years ago and it worked for me. I don't know how to plays with 16.04 LTS. If you have problems with French (like me), maybe you should try another tool to create a multiboot system. If you intend to use it for many distros, also distros that are very different from Ubuntu and Debian, I suggest that you try some other tool, for example- Multiboot-USB- YUMI (from Windows)If you will use it only for Ubuntu, flavours and re-spins based on Ubuntu, you can try- One pendrive for all PC (Intel/AMD) computers - single-boot dual-boot multi-bootYou can also make it yourself according to the following general 'grub-n-iso' linksArch: Multiboot_USB_drivehttps://help.ubuntu.co...

Hi,I've been ruing Ubuntu for a few weeks on an old-ish laptop (I've used it before on other computers), and trying to log on just now, it's telling me:/dev/sda1: UNEXPEXTED INCONSISTENCY; RUN fsck MANUALLY.(i.e., without -a or -p options)fsck exited with status code 4The root filesystem on /dev/sdal requires a manual fsckIt's then started something called:BusyBox v1.22.1 (Ubuntu 1:1.22.0-15ubuntu1) built-in shell (ash)And my command line begins with:(initramfs)Any help with what to do from here would be greatly appreciated p.s.I've tued on & off again few times, including starting in recovery mode - same result.I've also already run Ubuntu from disk to get my files copied onto a pen dri...

Ubuntu 14.04Hi.My system has recently begun ruing some sort of memory test after every so many boots. The process takes about 30 seconds, and is quite aoying. I would prefer to invoke such a test on demand, rather than have the system decide when to run it. I'm not sure how, or why, this feature started. How can I remove the automatic ruing of this test?Thanks,M.. Let's block ads! بخوانید...

I recently started building a retro gaming console, which is nothing more than an old PC with Ubuntu ruing Retropie.I actually put this together to test Retropie out before springing for a Raspberry Pi 3, but then I realized that it performed so much better than the Pi 3 that I would be better off not bothering with the Pi at all. It's an HP 5800 small form factor desktop. These machines came with an on-board GPU which is no longer supported, but it works great for everything except N64 games.I borrowed a graphics card from another machine to see if that would help, and it worked perfectly.Unfortunately, I can't keep this graphics card in the machine for two reasons; it doesn't belong to me, a...

Hi,i have on my laptop Kubuntu since v14.04 and upgrade it to v16.04.Under ubuntu 14.04 and later 15.10 i had the standard saving energy tool for laptops and my computer was very quite and sometimes fan run high do to workload (which was normal).Since i upgrade it to 16.04, my CPU or Graphic fan runs at 100% (it seems at least based on the noise level) even if i do nothing and that laptop is on login screen.my CPU range is about 68C to 83-84C degrees max.For an unknown reason FAN runs at max and i dislike it especially when i do not require anything from it.Some people told me that room where i was was hot or that it is normal in summer.... the problem is that even in a room at 20C degrees i...

Hello,I've recently installed Ubuntu for the first time. My laptop is a Dell Latitude E6420. I've attached my laptop to a docking station, which is coected to an exteal monitor. While Ubuntu works just fine when my laptop isn't docked, the screen (e.g. the cursor and windows) appears to lag when it's displayed on my exteal monitor. After doing some research, I hypothesized that I have to install graphics drivers (again), since I'm using a different platform.I looked up my graphics card model, NVIDIA Corporation GF119M [NVS 4200M] (rev a1), and found this page:http://askubuntu.com/questions/29624...vers-correctlyI followed the page's instructions and got this message in the terminal:Package nv...

To run a dos program in Ubuntu you would need to install a dos emulator.(or possible try to run it with wine(which is windows emulator-like program that allows you to run windows programs near natively in Ubuntu), or inside a windows virtual machine)But two choices for a dos emulator aredosbox and dosemuAlso, don't post the .exe file.As that might be in violation of the programs terms of use, et cetra.(and we do not allow violations of terms of use)You can post a link to it's web page, if it has one. Hi,I have a server with 16.04 up and ruing. I used lxd to create a container environment, where I bridged my network.Everything is ruing smoothly. Now I want to create different containers, which belong to 3 projects.I would like to separate these projects, they should be ruing in 3 different networks, two containers in every subnet should have a loadbalancer and a jumhost, they should have two network interfaces, one facing to the projects inteal network, one facing the default network, that is the one my serveode is using. How can this be archieved? Would I have to set up the project-inteal network manually or can I configure multiple networks with LXC / LXD?Kind regards, Let's block ads! بخ...

Answer is maybe.Depends on hardware.More likely a probable for graphics than for sound. It's very rare you would need sound drivers beyond those already installed. But if the system works out of the box then you probably don'y need to do anything about drivers.Linux has builtin drivers that support a wide variety of hardware. But if you feel performance lacks then you might look into Ubuntu driver section in the program Software and Updates >> Additional Drivers. If there are any known drivers that are not part of the default install available for your current hardware using your current system. They will be listed and installable from here. Today i've upgraded Xubuntu in my laptop from 15.04 to 16.04 using USB. I choose the delete and reinstall option because the upgrade options was grayed out. Also, same like before, it's dual-booted with win 7.Several week before, at 15.04 xubuntu detects my wireless card as Intel Centrino Wireless. Even though it's detected, it's faulty. It discovers nearby wifi networks with low signal and can't coect to it. One of my reason to upgrade is to (hopefully) fix this problem. Now it's even worse, the card doesn't showed itself when i use lspci, lshw, or lsusb. Also, I downloaded the suitable driver for that card and place it at /lib/firmware, severe weeks before the upgrade. It doesn't seem to ma...

Welcome. Ubuntu Studio is specifically for multimedia production and there's a lot there that you will probably never want or use. It also uses Jack primarily for sound although Pulseaudio is in there somewhere.I suggest you do a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and if you have a repeat of your problems, start a new thread about each (one thread a question, please) and hopefully someone can help you. In-machine net upgrades can be problematic, as you've found. You need to update/upgrade your install first and switch off any PPAs you've installed manually, among other things, before commencing the upgrade to a new release. You don't need UStudio to run Ardour, it will run on any Ubuntu flavou...

Okay, here's the problem: I use the analog line out jacks for 5.1 audio, since I've had mixed success with my speakers' SPDIF support. They show up on aplay -l as Code: card 0: SB [HDA ATI SB], device 0: ALC889 Analog [ALC889 Analog] Subdevices: 0/1 Subdevice #0: subdevice #0 and aplay -L as... a whole lot of things, including the default output. However, I can't get System Settings => Sound or pulseaudio volume control to recognize them. The former just doesn't list them, and the latter incorrectly lists every analog-out option as "unplugged." On top of that, when I try to use aplay or speaker-test with output forced to anything that should correspond with those analog outs, I get ...
