I have a Dell Vostro laptop with Windows 10, which is a legacy bios rather than a UEFI. I have downloaded 16.04 and created a bootable USB using Rufus. I've tested the bootable USB on my other laptop which is of type UEFI, and the computer boots to the bootable USB perfectly, into 16.04. I've set up the Dell Vostro boot order to look first for a bootable USB. When I start up the dell with the bootable usb plugged in, a get a black screen with a cursor, and nothing further happens. Please let me know why it is not booting to the usb. Would the same bootable usb work for UEFI and legacy bios? Or does one need to somehow setup the bootable usb differently if it is to be used for a UEFI computer...

I deleted Windows off of my Lenovo Yoga 2-11 and replaced it with the latest edition of Ubuntu. Occasionally, when I'm writing something, browsing the web, or just simply on the desktop doing nothing, the computer freezes completely. I've let it sit for up to 30 minutes hoping it's just something temporary, but it doesn't seem like it is. Every time this happens, I have to reset the laptop by holding down the power button and pressing it again to tu it back on. Tried fiddling with BIOS setting's, tried making the Bootable USB with different USB creator's, tried re-naming syslinux to isolinux on the USB and vice versa, tried multiple distro's.Once server goes through POST and tries to boot from USB... Hello all so I have several Xubuntu VM's ruing, hosted on a server 2012 r2 machine.I recently added a basic graphics card to improve their graphics performance, with a much better one to be installed once a PCI extension cable and power cables for my server come in. The problem is, as soon as I enabled the passthrough of the graphics card, the resolution dropped to 800x600, and I can't change it at all. That's the only option, and whenever I try to add a resolution (I'm wanting 1024 x 768, or 1280x800, maybe both), or try to get the display info xrandr gives me the error "failed to get size of gamma for output default"I'm assuming this is because it doesn't have a real display, so how can I ...

Title pretty much says it all. I have gotten League of Legends and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive both ruing on my laptop (Ubuntu 16.04), through PlayOnLinux, but I caot alt-tab out of either game without putting the game in a state where it will not any longer display the game visually. Like I'll resume my game, and it will open up a window that's on freezeframe, but the game will still be ruing because I can hear all the action happening, and my friends talking, etc. This is very frustrating.
