[lubuntu] Extra Printer Drivers

  • Hallo Everyone,I am trying to install a Canon Pixma MG5750 for a friend and have discovered a strange thing ...We both have identical installations of Lubuntu (I installed for him) but my installation contains the driver for this printer but his does not.My suspicion is that, at some time, I have installed a bundle of "extra printers".Does such a thing exist? Maybe available via Synaptic?Any tips would be a great help because Canon doesn't seem to support Linux with this printer (or am I wrong?)Many thanks,Alan Let's block ads! بخوانید, ...ادامه مطلب

  • Xenial Xerus upgrade on Asus EEE PC 1000H

  • Hello. My friend has Ubuntu, the previous LTS, installed on her Asus EEE PC 1000H laptop. She is considering to upgrade to Xenial Xerus. Are there any guarantees if the upgrade succeeds, and whether it works well enough? The current LTS Ubuntu works on the laptop, it is really slow but works. The laptop has 2 GB RAM, 120 GB Kingston SSD, GPU is probably Intel GMA.Has anybody else experiences on running Xenial Xerus on EEE PC 1000H?What are the possible problems one should expect when upgrading and after the upgrade (if it succeeds)? • [lubuntu] Errors when booting - Updated form 14.04 16.04 Asus Ultrabook

  • Hello.Am a Linux novice. Performed an on-line update from 14.04 to 16.04 on my laptop which is an Asus Ultrabook. It has an 1T SSD and is dual-boot with Windows 8.1 via grub. Have done the same upgrade on my Intel i7 desktop without issue. It however DOES NOT have an SSD.During boot, there are errors reported that I cannot decipher and, I believe, has to do with Ubuntu recognizing my SSD (sd9?). It is a Corsair SSD. During boot it performs some sort of disk diag that runs for 1m 50s? Sometimes it won't boot at all and I have to do the three-finger-salute (control-alt-delete).Have a copy of my dmsg file and have attached it... (after I looked up where to find it)Again. It's an Asus Ultrabook S500CA w/ 12G of memory (8+4 G - limitation of hardware/motherboard?). • [ubuntu] Do I need to install Graphics and sound drivers on ubuntu 16.04?

  • Answer is maybe.Depends on hardware.More likely a probable for graphics than for sound. It's very rare you would need sound drivers beyond those already installed. But if the system works out of the box then you probably don'y need to do anything about drivers.Linux has builtin drivers that support a wide variety of hardware. But if you feel performance lacks then you might look into Ubuntu driver section in the program Software and Updates >> Additional Drivers. If there are any known drivers that are not part of the default install available for your current hardware using your current system. They will be listed and installable from here. • [Mouse Drivers] Corsair Katar

  • Hello, my mouse is a 'Corsair Katar', and supports adjustable DPI, a light which can flash at different intervals ( so fancy ) and that's about it. Unfortunately, I can only configure it on Windows, and the configuration does not save when I switch over to Linux. The mouse works fine ( DPI is adjustable via the button, basic mouse operations work, but profiles are not editable ). I plan on trying to develop a driver for the device to make it work correctly. From what I've read so far I need to write the driver, and an application to control the mouse ( adjust the DPI profiles, etc. ). I don't have any prior experience with developing drivers, I planned on writing a basic driver and using it to debug/reverse engineer the mouse and hope I'm able to manipulate it so it works correctly. I do have skills with programming ( C++, C#, etc. ), but I lack skills with Linux I'm gonna need a lot of help with this project, and it's probably a bit out of my league currently, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Any help would be appreciated, I'm not even that sure on where to start.I was hoping that I'd be able to use a pre-existing driver and modify it to include the extra functionality. I've been trying to poke around in terminal to see what driver is currently being used for the device.I tried to Google relevant commands, and came up with lsmod ( and modinfo ), but I cannot tell which module is being used for the mouse.Modules ListGoing to try debugging the application they use on Windows and see if I can break down the communication between the hardware and software. • [ubuntu] Anyone with ASRock AM1H-ITX & 5350 know where to find the chipset drivers?

  • According to reviews on Newegg and Amazon, I should download the AMD chipset driver/drivers directly from AMD, because of many owners having trouble with these drivers obtained from anywhere else. One review said it can be found on the AMD drivers page under a "option downloads" link, but I do not see any such thing. The manual driver search (where I can select OS as Ubuntu) only seems to give proprietary graphics drivers, and down at the bottom-right of the main drivers page is a link to the "AMD chipset, AHCI, USB 3.0 and RAID drivers", but it only shows for Windows.Anyone know which I need? • Help with graphics drivers/software

  • Hello all! Hopefully the forums will let me post - I've been having trouble recently.Well, this community has been so helpful and knowledgeable that I thought I'd put this problem I'm having on the table to seewhat you all can come up with.It is a graphics and/or hardware acceleration problem.I honestly don't know what the exact problem is, but I know that I can't run anything that requires 3d graphics rendering, such as games that I would like to play.I put this in Debian because I'm running Kali 2.0 Rolling release distribution, which is based on Debian wheezy/jessie.Here is some output from my terminal regarding the issue: Code: root@KandA: ~# glxinfo name of display: :0 Error: couldn't find RGB GLX visual or fbconfig root@KandA: ~# glxgears Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual The machine I'm running my OS on is an older model Acer laptop. It has the Intel B960 processor, 2.2Ghz, 2MB L3 cache. It has 2 cores, 2 threads. It runs Intel HD graphics. The only advanced technologies it has is "Enhanced Intel Speedstep, Intel Fast Memory Access, and Intel Flex Memory. So, it doesn't have virtualization capabilities.I'm adding this because I tried to use virtualbox to run an Ubuntu virtual machine for playing games that require a good graphics engine, butbecause it doesn't have virtualization I can't really run a VM with much success.I tried downloading the latest drivers for Intel HD graphics, but they aren't available via the aptitude/apt-get packages, and when I try to download the source and build it, thereare always dependencies that I lack, and can't get except by downloading with 'wget,' and in the end don't work themselves. Is there anyone willing to help me troubleshoot my problem with me? I'm running out of ideas.I'll download a game, or software, and give the error output. I'll give you guys any information you require to help me troubleshoot this.I've been trying to make this work for a month, and am starting to realize that I can't have the pen, ...ادامه مطلب
