I'm trying to upgrade from Kubuntu 14.04 to 16.04 and having a great deal of trouble about it.I became aware that a new version is available via popup notification on the desktop asking me if I want to upgrade to 16.04. I tell it "yes, update." It goes through a series of processes and ultimately gives me an error message saying I don't have enough space in some part of the hard drive, and to empty my trash and clean-out temporary files from old distros with Code: sudo apt-get clean I'm pretty sure that was the command. Either way, I did everything it asked and then tried again, with the same result. Insufficient space.I tried to bu an iso image of the new distro onto a DVD-R, thinking th...

Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTSI'm trying to install lxml v3.4.4, which I need for ruing w3af.By the way, I had lxml-3.5.0 installed, but w3af didn't accept it somehow and needed v3.4.4 exactly. So, I used the command Code: sudo pip install lxml==3.4.4 with the following output: Code: sudo -H pip install lxml==3.4.4Collecting lxml==3.4.4 Downloading lxml-3.4.4.tar.gz (3.5MB) 100% |████████████████████████████████| 3.5MB 175kB/s Building wheels for collected packages: lxml Ruing setup.py bdist_wheel for lxml ... error Complete output from command /usr/bin/python -u -c "import setuptools, tokenize;__file__='/tmp/pip-build-6c2Jyo/lxml/setup.py';exec(compile(getattr(tokenize, 'open', open)(__fi...

Whenever I try to open OBS studio, I get "Failed to initialize video: Unspecified error". I'm ruing Ubuntu 16.04 on my Lenovo Thinkpad T410 with Intel Ironlake Mobile graphics. I've never used OBS studio before, this is my first time. Apparently this was an issue before, but has possibly come up again. Here is a screen shot of the error. I couldn't upload it as an attatchment for another unknown reason. Here is the full log when launched from the command line: Code: Attempted path: share/obs/obs-studio/locale/en-US.ini Attempted path: /usr/share/obs/obs-studio/locale/en-US.ini Attempted path: share/obs/obs-studio/locale.ini Attempted path: /usr/share/obs/obs-studio/locale.ini Attempted path...

This must have been answered somewhere, but Google as I might, I caot find the answer.According to the find manual, you can use -P (which is default anyway) to prevent it from following symlinks. But, this applies only to flies. What I want is for find to not follow any folders that are symlinks. For example, suppose the folder structure is as follows. Code: . ├── folderA │ ├── folderAA │ └── folderAB ├── folderB │ ├── folderBA │ └── folderBB └── linkToOutside -> /somewhere/else/outsideA/ I want to use find, but tell it to search only folderA and folderB, and exclude folder linkToOutside (because it is a symlink).I have tried the following options but to no avail: Code: find -P ...

According to reviews on Newegg and Amazon, I should download the AMD chipset driver/drivers directly from AMD, because of many owners having trouble with these drivers obtained from anywhere else. One review said it can be found on the AMD drivers page under a "option downloads" link, but I do not see any such thing. The manual driver search (where I can select OS as Ubuntu) only seems to give proprietary graphics drivers, and down at the bottom-right of the main drivers page is a link to the "AMD chipset, AHCI, USB 3.0 and RAID drivers", but it only shows for Windows.Anyone know which I need? Hi allAs many others i have created my own backup solution (Bash) for a tailored system, which works just as expected. Now i've reached the stage that i also need to delete unwanted backups and here i have a question i am hoping to get a little help with. All my backups follow the same patteyear-mm-dd-week-timestamp.full.diryear-mm-dd-week-timestamp.inc.dirQuestionDuring a week i dont necessarily end up with 7 backups, since some days i do more than one incremental backup. So lets say i want to delete backups for two weeks, and this equal 20 backup folders. How can i in Bash say "find & delete 2x X.full.dir backups + all associated inc backups"?I am not a programmer, so i dont know the techn...

I originally posted this problem in another thread implying that the culprit was Samba but now I'm not so sure so I closed that thread and started this one.I have a WD My Cloud NAS which I've been using for several years through Nautilus using a location bookmark (smb://000.000.0.000, not all zeros of course but the ip of the device). I have smbclient installed (but not Samba itself) and all was well until the 16.04 LTS upgrade. Now, I caot coect to the NAS at all - no error messages, just no coection.I originally assumed this was due to a Samba bug (and on Launchpad there are a few) but now I'm not so sure because I can't coect using Gigolo either (which uses GVFS for network coections, an e...

I use Nautilus to access Weste Digital My Cloud but after upgrading to 16.04 I can't coect. No error message, nothing happens.I followed the advice found on askubuntu and added the line "client use spnego = no" to my smb.conf file at the top of the global section but no joy.I also tried re-creating the nautilus bookmark using the ip address of the wdmycloud - no joy there either. Can someone smarter than I (meaning almost everyone) help? Thanks Let's block ads! بخوانید...
